DOCUMENTARIES

This is an adventure that takes places just outside your front door. You might not know it, but your city is a wild place. Hidden in green spaces, under bridges and right in your garden is the secret world of urban wildlife, and it’s in these places where award-winning photographer Andrew Budziak captures the stories of our cities’ animals. In The Line, we follow Andrew on a journey through our city streets, river banks and parks as he creates incredible photographs of urban owls, deer, coyotes, raccoons and rabbits. In this beautiful, revealing and surprising film, Andrew attempts to answer a deceptively challenging question: what is urban wildlife photography? The quest to find an answer yields stunning photos and shows a hidden side of our city you never knew was there.

Poisoned Earth explores what happens when we chose one animal over another. This documentary looks at a poison program that is happening right in our backyard. At its core, this is a story about our relationship with wolves – a relationship based on love, hate and fear. For the past several years, the Alberta government has been eliminating wolves in an effort to recover a dwindling caribou population. The film looks at the controversial program, its unintended consequences and what needs to be done to ensure both species have a future.

Hannah and the Wolf is a short documentary that follows the work of conservation biologist Hannah Barron as she ventures through Ontario’s wilderness learning more about the Algonquin Wolf.
